Northern Ontario Birding or Bird Watching - An Ornithology Dream Come True
Birding or Bird Watching

Most of our guests report seeing more common birds like Bald Eagle, Loons, Gulls, Grouse, woodpeckers and different kinds of waterfowl. Most of the time they are not even looking for birds.

For people who take birding and ornithology seriously, Northern Ontario is a gold mine with many different species. There have been over 95 species of birds confirmed to live in our area during different times of the year.

Trout lake Wilderness is located on the main central North American migration route. Birds from the Central Flyway and the Mississippi Flyway come into our airspace. In spring and fall many species are seen while migrating to and from the insect rich tundra of Canada's Arctic where they nest.

There are also many species of birds, which live in our area all summer long. If you are a bird watcher and really enjoy birding in a remote wilderness location, then this is the place to be. Our crystal clean air and low humidity is perfect for telescopic photography.

Below is a list of confirmed species of birds in Northwestern Ontario.
