Northern Ontario Fly-in Wilderness Fishing
Fishing on Trout Lake

Nothing smells better then fresh Walleye cooking over a fire. Trout Lake is one of the top sport-fishing lakes in the world. The lake is stuffed with Walleye, Northern Pike and Lake Trout. Being able to catch fish so easily will help you save weight and money by bringing less food with you and having lots of fish with your meals. This is providing you know how to clean and cook fish.

In many cases, guests catch lots of fish right off shore from where they are camping. Northern Pike and Lake Trout generally do not feed at night. Walleyes do and late at night along the shore is the best time to catch the big trophy Walleyes that come out of the deep water to feed on minnows along the shore.

During the day Walleye and Northern Pike are easy to catch. Just cast jigs or lures near the shore, weed beds or shoals and you will catch fish. Lake Trout fishing in the spring is easy as they are just under the surface and hit just about any lure. Later in the summer, they go deeper.

Trout Lake also has a lot of very large trophy fish. We want to keep it that way so when you catch a big trophy, handle the fish with extra care, quickly take a picture and let the fish go. The small 1 to 2-pound fish are the best for eating.
